I don’t know about you but I like my warmth, and as pretty as snow is, it’s not nice waking up to a cold house, it slows me down – Yes, folks, it’s Winter in Australia and we’ve had days and nights of sleet and hail and snow.
I’ve changed all my screen savers to warm sunny pictures. Icebergs are out. Snow, ice, water scenes, even cool colors are out. In come pictures of volcanos, fire and desert scenes. All just to give me the illusion of warmth as I sit in a cold office at 5:00 a.m., wearing fingerless gloves, waiting for my brain to warm up with the latest cup of coffee, and start producing.
Yes, I do have a heater in my office. It’s a kerosene heater meant for outdoor camping. I DON’T CARE, it’s faster than waiting two hours for the combustion stove in the kitchen to kick in. Actually, unless it’s very cold, I won’t light that until the afternoon.

What has any of this got to do with writing? NOTHING. I’m filling in time trying to think of something to say.
I guess this is it.
Cheers, all!

LOL Well I have enjoyed what you have said. It has given me a better view into your world. Whether you meant to or not, you gave great imagery to the cold and to the enviornment, and the desperate desire for heat. This may not have been the “Creative” writing you were hoping for at 5am, but I assure you it was worth the read.
I hope you warm up soon. I am actually more inclined to the chilly months although it is summer here.
Hi Candice, yes, I meant it, it really is that cold first thing where I am. I usually prefer to be cooler than warmer, too, because it’s easier to rug up than strip down – I’ve lived in the tropics and when you get down to skin, there’s no further you can go. 🙂
WOW! you sound just like me with your reasoning! I have actually used the same words ( well exchanging rug up for bundle up or layer up) but all the same meaning 😉
Great minds think alike! 😀 Actually, I think it’s experience talking.
LOL I agree with both 🙂
LOL. what a smart way to keep away from the cold, changed the screen saver. but, still, i want to experience living with winter *tropical inlander dream* 😀
Keep warm, Allyson. Warm hug from Indonesia \^o^/
Every bit helps, Yuna, even the screen-savers. I understand your dream to experience a real Winter. Although we get ice and some snow that stays on the ground, I still like the idea of being snowed in or have deep snow that lasts for days. I’m sure those who actually experience it would shake their heads and think we are both crazy! 😀
I run the AC and heat in my house way less than the normal person, trusting in my good insulation and generally hot computers (seriously, my desktop IS a space heater) to keep me warm. Also gives me the advantage of getting to bundle up at night when sleeping. My body likes being warm relative to the environment, but not sweaty. Stupid picky sleeping problems.
I know what you mean. I’ve had time when I get sweaty-hot, then freeze, then too hot again. That doesn’t help creativity, either.
If it’s any consolation it’s Summer in the South of France, & the rain & the hail are present in spades.
😢
Well, that’s a bum!
Too true!
