Middle of the Night Stints – Capturing the Gems

Yes, I know, I’m late, I’m blogging outside my usual time slot and for the next couple of months that might become the way of things – As the manuscript for book 3 comes together, I’m seeing it much more clearly – As I’m seeing it more clearly, solutions and ideas for those gaps are coming with more precision, all of which often lands… yes, in the middle of the night.

If I’m awake and it’s working, I’m up taking advantage of it. There are too many natural blockages and delays out there to hamper the creative process, and a writer soon learns to grab those golden flashes of inspiration and every opportunity to capture the gems.

Lately I’ve been waking in the middle of the night or early in the morning. In this house, the day starts at 4:30. We get moving at that time because Greg has a long drive in to work (we live rural), so when I talk about an early start, I mean around 2:00 in the morning.

I love it. Middle of the night stints have an extra layer of loveliness to them because nothing else needs to be done. It’s pure writing time.

Usually I just continue on with my day, but eventually lack of sleep catches up with me. This morning it hit at 6:30-ish in the morning. That offered plenty of time (I thought) for a little shut-eye and still post in my regular time-slot of 8:30.

Well, I slept on, so I guess I needed it. So I’m late. Again.

I will endeavor to stick within my usual timeframes, but for the next couple of months or until this book is finished, my blogging times may vary and I will be more likely to take weekends away from Blogsville.

I can tell you that I am pleased with the manuscript I have so far. And yes, the story and story quality comes before any schedule, but I suspect I won’t be as late with this project as I thought I might be. We will see.

Cheers all,

😀

Exactly! Relaxing into sleep seems to trigger it sometimes, the subconscious allowed to break loose with ideas. I can often hang on to ideas and solutions, but when it starts coming at me word perfect, I have to capture it then and there or it won’t be there in the morning. I love it when it happens. A flow is a flow. Cheers! 🙂

        Hi Allyson,
Yes, I’m sure someone in blogsville would be wondering when i wasn’t there. And i thank you for becoming one of them. 😀

I had a great break, even though laid down on the beach wasn’t one of it, but i ensure I’ll have one at my next break (which in two weeks) because I’m going to Bali (again).

I hope you have a great and enjoyable writing. 😀
